Athlete Spotlight: Madonna Buder

Madonna Buder was born on July 24, 1930, and joined a convent at the age of 23.

When she was 48, she and a priest had a conversation that led to her living a more active lifestyle. Since then sister Madonna has competed in roughly 400 triathlons; 45 of which were Ironman. Due to her age, Ironman opened 6 new age groups starting with 50 and over and in September of 2020 the 90 and over age group was created earning her name as the Iron Nun.

She holds the record for the oldest woman to complete a triathlon. Which she completed at the age of 82 in Canada in 2012.
